Agricultural University of Iceland

Protected crops and vegetable production

The department provides vocational training in agriculture and horticulture at the upper secondary school level as well as continuing education (fixed programmes and ad hoc courses) for the general public and professionals within the field of AUI. The activity of the department is a significant part of the total activity of AUI as reflected from the number of active students.

The vocational programmes are run at Hvanneyri campus (agriculture) and Reykir campus (horticulture). In addition, various parttime programmes and individual courses are run regionally on demand, apart from these regular programmes. These parttime programmes and continuing education courses are attended by close to 3000 persons annually. The department is a separate entity from the university part and governed by its own regulations.
