If you are a student from outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA), the window to apply for world-class graduate studies in Iceland is closing soon.
The Agricultural University of Iceland (LBHÍ/AUI) has set a firm application deadline of January 31st for non-EU/EEA applicants. This early deadline ensures international students have sufficient time to process student visas and residence permits before the autumn semester begins.
Here is a breakdown of the five specialized Master’s degrees currently accepting applications.
Environmental Change in the Arctic (EnCHiL)
This is a Nordic Master’s program focused on the rapid environmental and societal shifts occurring in high-latitude regions. It is a multidisciplinary science education program designed for individuals who wish to lead sustainable development efforts in the North.
Restoration Ecology (MS)
Iceland’s landscape is shaped by volcanic activity, and historical land degradation serves as a living laboratory for this program. Students learn how to combat desertification, restore biodiversity, and mitigate climate change through the recovery of ecosystems.
Agricultural Science (MS)
This research-based Master’s degree focuses on sustainable food production and land cultivation. It is ideal for students interested in innovation within biological, economic, and technological aspects of agriculture.
Equine Science (MS)
Offered in a specialized environment, this program is dedicated to the study of the Icelandic horse and equine biology. It trains scientists to contribute to the development of equine sciences through critical research.
Forest Science (MS)
With Iceland’s increasing focus on afforestation, this program explores forest science as a renewable resource and a vital ecological service. It covers everything from silviculture to landscape analysis.
